Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 2026
1. Introduction
My Life History is a product of Gary Pope (contact: rptgeek@gmail.com). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the My Life History service at mylifehistory.xyz and app.mylifehistory.xyz.
This policy is effective as of May 2026. By using the service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
If you have questions or concerns about this policy, please contact us at rptgeek@gmail.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information when you use My Life History:
Memoir Content
When you use the AI-guided interview feature, we collect and store your voice session transcripts, text responses, and photos you upload during sessions. This is the core content of your memoir — the memories, stories, and personal reflections you choose to share with the AI interviewer.
Account Information
Your email address is collected and managed via Amazon Cognito for authentication. We use your email address to identify your account, secure your sessions, and communicate with you about the service when necessary.
Usage Data
We automatically collect data about how you use the service, including pages visited, session duration, and browser type. This data is collected via Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and is used to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve the experience.
Device Information
We automatically collect certain technical information about your device, including your IP address, browser type and version, and operating system. This information is collected via GA4 for analytics purposes and is pseudonymized before storage.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- To provide the memoir interview and book generation service — processing your voice and text responses through AI to generate memoir chapters
- To authenticate your account and maintain session security via Amazon Cognito
- To improve app performance and user experience, using pseudonymized GA4 analytics data
- To contact you with important service updates or in response to your inquiries
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes. Your memoir content is private and used solely to provide the service to you.
4. Third-Party Services
My Life History relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each service has its own privacy policy:
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Our infrastructure provider. Your memoir content, photos, and account data are stored on AWS services — Amazon S3 (file storage), DynamoDB (database), Cognito (authentication), Transcribe (voice transcription), and Polly (text-to-speech). AWS infrastructure is located in the United States. See AWS Privacy Notice.
Anthropic (Claude AI)
We use Anthropic's Claude API to power AI interview conversations and memoir chapter generation. Anthropic's API terms explicitly prohibit the use of API content for training AI models without permission. Your memoir content is never used to train Claude or any other AI model. Your stories belong to you and remain private. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (tag ID: G-MM083N3YSN) to collect pseudonymized usage data such as page views and session duration. GA4 uses a persistent browser cookie (_ga) to identify unique visitors across sessions. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. See Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Data Security
Your data is protected using industry-standard security measures:
- AES-256 encryption at rest — all content stored in Amazon S3 is encrypted at rest
- TLS 1.2+ encryption in transit — all data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit
- Amazon Cognito authentication — secure, industry-standard identity management protects your account
While we implement these protections, no internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take our responsibility to protect your data seriously.
6. Data Retention
We retain your memoir content and account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data — including your memoir content, session transcripts, photos, and account information — within 30 days of receiving your request.
Pseudonymized analytics data collected via Google Analytics 4 is retained for 14 months per Google's default retention policy, after which it is automatically deleted from Google's servers.
